What my church is about? Actually, I continually find myself having to defend my church to people who feel the need to discredit us. It bothers me that there is a perception that all emerging churches are the same. That is kind of like saying all Christian churches are the same, which of course, is not true. Not all ec's believe there is no hell (I believe eternal separation from God is, by definition hell), not all condone gay marriage (I do not condone it).
I have to re-iterate, Brian, that I did point out that my point of reference was dated. And I did not mention Philpott specifically. This was not by accident.
I have tried to address my "painting with a wide brush" in a response comment to Jason on my blog.
There were many very good things about our time at Philpott. Absolutely. But, some bad that really hurt us.
Brian, I very recently told Pernell that I have the utmost respect for you as a Christian. It does hurt me to think that I have diminished our friendship with what I have said.
